Characteristics of party system in India
1. Multi-party system
India mainly has a multi-party system with contests between them every five years. The party which has the trust of the people wins the majority and forms the government. No party can maintain stability in government because the fate of any party depends on public opinion here.
2. Regional group growth
In terms of regional differences in India
Political leaders form one party at a time to achieve their own interests. They try hard to win more public opinion in elections by making many promises of regional development. A prime example of this is the joint cabinet formed by Atalibihari Bachpei in 1999.
3. Organizational weakness
Organizational weakness can be seen in India's political landscape.
The team in which there is a member in the field is active. Which later affects the public opinion in the elections. A team that works continuously and is active as a team. The team is trusted by millions.
4. Party change politics
Conflict is a disorder in Indian politics. Because here MLAs and MPs change parties from one party to another due to greed for various posts. Although the party change law is in place, it is unable to stop it completely.
5. Lack of strong opposition
Despite the multi-party system prevailing in India, there is a lack of a strong opposition party which has failed to control the ruling party. A strong opposition party further shapes the political landscape.
6. Lack of internal democracy
Due to the lack of membership in political parties, there is a lack of internal democracy among all party members.
